Data Collection
Fray for Chrome does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information, browsing history, or user data of any kind.
How the Extension Works
The extension communicates exclusively with the Fray Desktop application running locally on your computer (at
http://127.0.0.1:21542). No data is
ever sent to any external server, third-party service, or cloud platform.
When you save a bookmark or image, the following information is sent only to Fray Desktop on your own machine:
- The page URL, title, and preview image (for bookmarks)
- The image file you dragged (for image captures)
- Tags, ratings, and descriptions you manually add
This data stays entirely on your device, under your control.
Permissions Justification
- activeTab: Read the current page's URL, title, and preview image when you click the extension to save a bookmark.
- scripting: Inject the drag-and-drop handler so you can drop images directly into a save modal.
- Host permission (127.0.0.1:21542): Send saved bookmarks to Fray Desktop running on your local machine.
Third Parties
Fray for Chrome does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or telemetry services.
